The Knox Mission Statement To share Christ with Others is taken seriously and literally by our congregation. We support the following local, national, and international missions and charities with prayer, volunteer hours, monetary donations, and gifts. In addition to these identified missions, the congregation will also rise up and offer support where it might arise, such as the 2021 hurricane that swept through Haiti.

Local Missions

Knox is proud to support these mission efforts in our local community of Milton.

  • Salvation Army: We collect food for their food bank at Knox and deliver to them. We also support their Christmas kettle campaign and supply needy families with gift cards and gifts at Christmas.
  • Milton Transitional Housing: Offers safe & local living spaces for clients to call home during a 2-year program; offering expert help & case support to ensure the success of our program; the team helps clients stabilize their lives, maintain hope, and move forward with dignity. We have a team raise money on the Coldest Night of the Year walk.
  • No One Goes Hungry in Milton: In addition to making donations, church volunteers help and deliver meals to needy families in Milton.
  • Re-Soul (formerly The Deck): A youth drop-in centre in Milton that provides a safe place for teens and pre-teens, offering after-school homework assistance, skills development and support for the youth and their families.

National Missions

As a member of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, Knox supports Canadian Mission work through the National Church. Presbyterians Sharing. Presbyterians Sharing is the national church fund that supports mission and ministry in Canada and around the world. Presbyterians share in a wide range of ministries. Together, we build strong congregations, serve vulnerable people, walk with Indigenous people, seek justice and share God’s love around the world.

One of the initiatives is the Anamiewigummig (Kenora Fellowship Centre) located in Kenora, ON. They provide sanctuary and hospitality for those marginalized and alienated by poverty and addiction. It operates as a drop-in centre and works with legal services, detoxification programs, street patrol and other essential services in the community. KFC is working to improve mental health and places a strong value on the healing and therapeutic properties of the arts.

International Missions

Presbyterian World Sharing and Development – working with local partners around the world to address the root causes of poverty and create new futures of hope and opportunity through programs addressing various needs and responding to natural disasters around the world. PWS&D works hard to address the following issues.

  • Food security: Communities are learning innovative and sustainable agriculture practices to increase crop yields, improve nutrition, and build resilience to environmental changes.
  • Livelihoods: Families are empowered to meet their basic needs through education, skills training and small business development. When one person becomes self-reliant they are able to improve their quality of life, shape their future, and lift up others in their community.
  • Health: By ensuring mothers and children receive the medical care they need, caring for people affected by HIV and AIDS, and providing access to water
